Does your mower have a tach?

Seriously now, I am trying to figure out if either honda or Briggs makes a tachometer for the larger engines. Does anybody know? Oh yeah, btw, Brian M. email me about the VW engine, if you want it you have first dibs. Otherwise, does anyone want to buy a VW engine? If so, email me. Thanks

Joe

There are tachs for the Briggs engine advertised in Jegs. They are used in JR Dragsters. Go to www.jegs.com.

Here are the standard karting tachs:
http://www.arcracing.com/cgi-bin/Sof...exe/?E+scstore (scroll down a little)

They are fairly expensive. I would love to find a cheep single cylinder tach (electric) for my minibike.

Could a regular tach somehow be modified? They usually have settings for 4-6-8 cylinder motors; what would it take to make one work on a 1 cylinder? Any electronics nerds here?

it would cost about 5-10 $ in parts to make a normal tac work on a 1 cyl . that is assuming it has a 12 vlt coil or something similar, i don't know exactly how the coil works on small motors. it wouldn't be very complex really, so if intrested, i'll see if i can make it work, if so i'll show you how.

I am interested too. A tach would look good on my Cub Cadet. Let us know if you figure it out!

Ghettostang, I would be very interested. Please, tell me what you're thinking with regards to modifying the tach? How could you do it? Not only would this be functional for the hovercraft, to have two mechanical tachs, but it would save me a ton of cash and save me from going to a digital (yuck) alternative. Thank you!

You can buy tachs for briggs that hook to your spark plug wire, You can pick them up at a racing cart shop.

I was talking about this subject with a friend of mine. He asked why not just use a regular tach, and make a differnt face for it so it would read correctly?
