Quick Fabrication \"Q\"

I have the frenched in antenna in the fender of my 55 F100 ... Obviously, there needs to be a "drain hole" of some sort at ther bottom of it.

Is there anything special I should do with this ... currently I have no provision at all, so the field is wide open on my options.

Just a simple hole in the bottom? ... or is there more to it that I should consider

Also ... It is a "power antenna" unit so the unit hangs dirctly below the tube ... that is my main concern when I ask the "Q" ... water would drain straight down to the antenna unit if I just use a simple hole at the bottom.

Thought I should toss in that bit of info.

On the last one I did, I brazed a steel nipple on the end after drilling a 1/8" hole. Attached some windshield washer hose to it & ran it down the inside of the fender with some sillycone...

OK ... I got it installed ...

Drilled small hole at an angle in the bottom of the antenna mount ... then took a one inch long piece of 5/16 steel tube. Ran a screw in through the tube to hold it in place and welded the tube to the antenna mount. ... pulled the screw out and re-drilled the hole through to match the size of the drain tube. This will allow me to attach a hose to direct the drain water away for the antenna unit.

Seems to have worked out well. I have to head to work now so I'll check out my work a little closer tonight and break out the seam sealer to seal up all my welds on the inside of the fender and on the antenna mount as well.

Thanks for the advise Qtrmiler
