How do such cool cars end up like this?

It always amazes me how such a neat(and rare) car can end up this way.

This 7 Litre ragtop looks almost identical to one I bought back in the mid '70s for 50 bucks. The frame was tacky but it ran like a jewel. We drove it home without a problem. We pulled the 428 for a stock car, kept the trim which has long since disappeared and scrapped the rest.
Who knew....

Yeah, I guess you are right. I used to work with a guy who raced MoPars in the late sixties and he would buy totaled Hemi cars, strip the drive trains and scrap the rest. He said by todays standards they were very fixable but at the time you could just go buy a new one, no big deal.

It's bout the same thing as my Galaxie 30 years ago almost. I loved the car to death but I drove it like a maniac and put it in the ditch once and did a bit of boonie bouncing with it back then. But it wasn't that old of a car at that time. Now years later I would never drive it like I did back then. Of course now it might fall apart. The worst I've done here is drive it over a curb a couple times because of people either hogging the entrance or exit with their big SUVs or just parked halfway across the exit. I wasn't going to sit there and wait for who knows how long.
I had a couple of old chevys that now would probably sell for a good price but I wasn't too nice to them either! Hauling trees and couches on the tops of them and everything else. They were just a car back then and nothing special.

I think he needs to look a little closer at some things like that breather. I've seen several & that's not the right one, nor are some other parts. It does happen to a lot of cars. I couls tell you about all the GTA Mustangs, big block Fairlanes & other really cool cars I've junked, but it's just sad today...

It looks like a real one to me. They came with a painted open element air cleaner, but that one is so nasty it's hard to tell. It also has the disc brake master cylinder and it just says galaxie 500 on the side and not 500xl yet it has the bucket seat interior. It also has the unique to 7 Litre wood type steering wheel. You can also see the remnants of the body line pinstriping that was unique to 7Litres. I don't know if they are worth enough to justify bringing it back, unless you just want one. If it's from up north the frame is probably rusted out too.

I fully agree that it's a shame that all those cars have disappeared, but on the other hand, if all 2360 of them had survived, you'd see them all the time and 27 of them would be listed on ebay at any given time. Then you wouldn't consider them special anymore.
