Shaving Door Handles

Mavman ...

I'm doing nothing that approaches that level of engineering ...

However,

Whatever I didn't realize before the "55 Effie Project" ... I sure realize by now ...

One is only limited by the walls of their imagination and their level of inginuity.

I did some pretty neat (Well, I thought it was neat anyway) stuff on the 67 Camaro and the 73 Mach1) ........

The level of engineering and fabrication going on with Queenie's 55 F100 puts them both to shame.

Not to say I think I could compete with Cottington, James or Cook ...

But for little old me out in my two car garage working with basic Craftsman tools, an air compressor, a little 110 welder, a fair amount of help from local friends and info from folks like you on the Internet ... this truck is amazing me for sure.

Shaving Door Handles

I am hoping to just modify the linkages inside the door to have the lock cylinder actuate the door latch...That way it will always work, powered or not.

Shaving Door Handles

Crazed ... you got my thinking "down pat."

I want to know I can open the doors "at will" mechanically no matter what.

I have heard of folks using the key to actally snap the latch ... I just don't know if that results in stress on the key lock or not.

I also know that on my Wife's bosses Ferrari, the door latch release is up under some panel on the door and not visible from the side of the car ...

I'm just looking to find the best way possible to shave the "normal door handles" and go to a more sleek looking body line, but not be held hostage to some frigg'in electrical device.

I always run a with one end hooked cable hooked to the door latch mecchanism out through the doorjam with the speaker or courtesy light wires and hide the other end of it somewhere that you can get to it in case of total electrical failure on the street rods I build.
