Firestone Steeltex tire recall for 2000-2003 Excursions.My truck has them on it!

I have Steeltex R4S's on my SuperDuty. I haven't heard anything about these yet. I kinda hope I do. I hate these tires.
On the Explorer, my father-in-law has one and I got to drive it on a long trip once and the thing I noticed was that the steering was extremely tight. Even the slightest movement of the wheel and it would jerk the little truck very easily. And it was easy to over correct. With that, I could see how it would be easy to lose control. I test drove an 03 and it seemed a lot better. It had much better control. My SuperDuty has much better control also. Maybe too good. That thing drives better than my wife's Mustang.[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif[/img]

I called "Badger Ford truck" in town today for the tire recall deal and they said my truck will get 5 new tires next week.....

It also needs a new wiper motor as a recall so I'm gonna have them do both recalls at the same time.....

The dealer was very helpfull and it looks like the Firestones will be off my truck very soon....the service writer says that I'm getting the recall done pretty far ahead from what most X owners will get.....my phone call did pay off!

*****UPDATE*****


I just back back from the dealer after having the tire recall done....


The new tires seem to ride a little stiffer than the old ones......It took about 3 hours for the dealer to do both recalls my truck needed....

This worked out real good as my truck did need new tires anyways so getting 5 free ones sounded good to me!
