Historic Ford Archaeological Find!!!!: Pictures:

A few years ago someone had the bright idea to set up a salvage yard a few miles away. I live in El Paso, Tx. and we have the historic Rio Grande that flows about a mile from my shop. My shop is located in the valley that the river carved out eons ago. Just above the valley is desert. The salvage yard was built on top of an arroyo (which is a dry stream bed in the desert that channels water into the valley below). As you can imagine, once it started raining the water quickly flooded the junkyard. There was one particular season when we had extremely heavy rainfall and it actually started washing whole cars into the arroyo below the junkyard. One of my hobbies is to ride my ATV around my shop and here are 3 of the engine blocks that I have dug out of the arroyo and toted back to my shop on my ATV. The first one is a standard bore '74 302, the second is a standard bore'65 289 and the third is a standard bore '76 460. I have found numerous other engines, as well as several 9" rear ends.

Sounds like when we go to Ruidoso on vacation we should

1) take the truck instead of the convertible
2) detour though El Paso for a visit

Well that's wild. Finding engine parts instead of rocks along the river. Even me, the huge rockhound could go for that. And I'm the Lucille Ball movie (The long long trailer)type rockhound! In fact when leaving the petrified forest, when asked if i had any rocks, I gave the guard some from Mt. St. Helens.
