I know this is a little off the topic, but I was wondering if any of you folks out there own a Jeep, (Cherokee/Laredo) and have/had a problem with braking at high speeds? I have 27K on my 2001 Grand Cherokee and when braking from 70 MPH down to 40 MPH, on start up, through driving the car 5 hours, this happens all the time. I have a moderate to severe front-end shake. When the brakes are applied, the steering wheel will vibrate and shake. I brought the Jeep in at 10K for the same problem. (If I recall correctly they cut the rotors and installed bigger calipers, and this worked for 5-10K?) I think the rotors heat up and warp because of a design flaw, and the calipers are inadequate or are involved at some level. I guess I’m looking for advice for going in and talking to the service manager….I would like them to fix it permanently….This car was not cheep, and it is a constant reminder….
I don’t think it is a real safety issue….but stands to reason that the vibration will eventually loosen something up…and at 70K I’ll have all kinds of rattles…. Thanks!
