Left ide radio was normal standard fare in 69-70 full size,
Ford was forced to change it due to consumer dissatisfaction

I had a 1969 Galaxie XL. It was a 351W 2bbl Automatic. Even with the 351, the car would move. I imagine the 429 4bbl 4spd will really scoot. The odd dash configuration was a pain in the rear.

Damn, that's one hell of a sleeper! I love the color too, and those hubcaps rock. I don't like the grille or dash styling of the '69-'70 full-size cars ('69 plain-jane front is alright), actually I find the dash hideous, but the whole 4 speed thing makes it awesome... Even more so since it's an LTD. Definitely one sweet ride.

I like the reaction I get all the time when people find out my current beater/daily driver Oldsmobile is a 5 speed. They kinda do a double-take. It's gonna be weird next week when I start driving the '68 again (Galaxie 500... in goes the new engine), my left foot will be trying to work a clutch that isn't there!

My '70 Hi-Po car was a trip with the radio there... Can't have enough 4-speed big block cars

I've always liked the radio on MY side of the dash. It keeps all of the hands OFF! I have the original AM Stereo with floor mounted Eight track for mine, but am currently using an AM/FM. The only bad thing about that radio is it's size. It's narrow and Tall, so no aftermarket radio will fit without hacking. I have a delete plate from a police car for the hole. I have considered gutting the Eight track console and adding a CD in it. That dash is also expensive to get recovered. I have an Auto - Zone rug on mine. They crack badly from the sun/cold.

Very cool car! YOu don't see many 429 cars with only one belt on the motor either. It has an odd inlet on the waterpump too.
