It's there to let all of us know that you can't get it right the first time
It is unnecessary and it seems all the forums I belong to have.Btw I use this http://www.iespell.com/

BTW ... My posts are usually edited three to six times on the average ...

You can however ...

Delete all the "extra edit notations" at the bottom of the post each time you edit ... no one needs to know you edited it more than once

FYI ... (this is an edit) ... you'll be hard pressed to find any of my posts that show more than one edit ... even though I edit them sometiomes for days on end.

I think its there to keep track of modifications to statements that were made. AT least if you start a flame war, there is a trail that shows you changed the original message...let’s say you offered mis-information or said something inappropriate. Once called on it, they could easily go back and edit the post, claim it never happened?

I agree: A spell checker would be nice!

Do all of your post in word or what ever writing program you have then copy and paste it into the forum. Thats what i do most of the time.

As far as "Flame Wars" go ...

I don't edit my posts in ways that change content or concept ... I edit them in ways that make them more precise, understandable and grammatically correct ...

My initial thoughts don't always flow from this "crusty old brain" with the greatest of "Clarity" as they hit the page in raw form.

I'd hate to think Beoweolf (or anyone else) was implying or thinking I say something in a "Flame War" and change it "later" in some substantial way.

BTW ... I too use "Microsoft Word" to spell check and find/correct my errors ... a little "copy and paste" goes a long ways.

Ok, OK I already edited this one twice and left the trail

$hit ... three times

Then after all that ... I edited again and I didn't mention my "edit" ... in an effort to maintain the integrity of the thread ... this makes number four and five to this post ...

Hmmm ... I now decided to add "crusty old brain" ... so I'm at six edits ... with an edit a whole day later ... and I didn't change content or concept ... other than I tried to laugh at my self a bit ... ok, maybe I didn't laugh ... but you can bet I "snickered" just a little

BTW ... I found a mis-spell in my last edit and now I'm at seven ... like it or not

See...you spoiled it! Another perfectly good complaint, now spoiled by logic and critical thinking. There ought to be a law against people that think clearly.

I try to do that too, but sometimes in a reply to a simple message, just being lazy, forget, think I spelt everything correctly or have brain lock...

Hmmm ...

And I just noticed ...

I spelled "sometimes" wrong in my first post ... should I go edit it ... or not

Those damn "I" and "O" keys are too close together on my keyboard.

Hah ... I now know what happend ... I didn't spellcheck my "edit"

Geez ... I could have edited that post and never had to do this post ... or the three edits ... to this post

Sorry found a mis-spell in my last edit ... make that four edits now

Someone needs to edit the title of this topic to

"What FMer's talk about when they are bored out of their mind"
