Big boat of a car....Inherited...

A huge boat, a 74 Mercury Meteor with a 351C. I'm thinking of upgrading the exhaust, and was wondering if anybody had any ideas on what to do with it.

I'm positive I don't want to have it going straight through the back, so I was thinking off to the side, right in front of the tire.(maybe on one side)
(sort of like the svt trucks)
Not sure about what type of muffler either to use. Right now it has a stock ford muffler.(its huge) I want to hear the engine, but I don't want it to attract law enforcement either.

Anyways, for you Americans, this is a pic of the car...

Lastly, the car is in mint condition, and I don't want to spend allot or make major modifications, as this car will be given to my nephew as a gift.

That is extremely cool. First thing I would do is put it on the ground. Then remove most trim. Then paint it black. Then tint the windows. It is a giant, slab sided beast which could look really menacing if you do it right.

Mine is dark blue, and has a white vinyl top, and it looks like I just ordered it from Ford yesterday.

Its big alright, and it doesn't have any emmision equipment whatsoever. It has only 27000 miles on it, I kid you not. From what I read, it was available only in Canada, and is based on the LTD.

I like to leave it at stock as possible, because I don't want to kill any value that it might have.

It does drive nice, steering is loose, but I think that's how they made them back then.

Before I got it, I was wishing it had a 460, but I guess this will have to do.

And any info on the exhaust, would be greatly appreciated.
