Is this a good deal?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7905284530

I would replace the points-type distributor on mys stock 460. I would want to leave it there when I build it better than stock in the future. What do you think?

Or for about the same money, you could send your stock Points Distrib to this guy:
http://www.davessmallbodyheis.com/

and he will do an full rebuild on your distrib, convert it to off the shelf HEI components (not pertronix stuff you have to special order) and do a custom curve to your engine's specs.

Personally- I think those big HEI's look like crap in a Ford's engine bay. In a chevy at least they are hidden back behind the carb, but are still a space hog.
To me, The small body distribs look MUCH better.

He comes highly recommended to me, and I'm gonna send mine to him this winter when I start tearing into my merc.

Here's a suggestion so take it as you will. I'd go to your parts store and order a remanufactured Duraspark dizzy. Wire in a Duraspark module and your there. Go to google and search Duraspark and I bet in 5 minutes or less you can find the diagram to do the conversion. I've not had to do a conversion, but I don't think it would take long at all and you'll never have to jack with points again. The system is pretty simple and Ford ran it on their cars and trucks for a long time. The distributor and "blue" module might set you back ~$120 or so but you will be able to cruise problem free for many miles.

Or, go to the junkyard and get the same thing for $50 but a junkyard dizzy is kind of hit or miss.

Good luck.

I put pertronix in every ford engine I own. I won't leave home without it.
