Fathers Day sucks!!...for Step Dads.

No matter how bad the birth father, you just can't feel comfortable. If he is a good guy, its not so bad...still awkward, but not so bad.

Like I always say to myself when it gets to me..."You knew the job was going to be unappreciated when you signed on"...but the fringe benefits aren't bad at all. The ol' lady makes up for it all.

Fathers Day sucks!!...for Step Dads.

My stepdaughter came by Friday afternoon, went straight up stairs. 10 minutes later, she came down, handed me a wrapped gift and told me, "Happy Father's Day". She said she had to work all weekend and wanted to give me the gift before she had to go to work. I opened it and she'd gotten me one of the new Mr. Clean car wash systems. Sometimes when you least expect it, they come through. BTW, the Mr Clean thingy works great!!

Fxjr called me Thursday and said he was going to see his mom's dad with her (his grandfather) on Sunday and would it be ok to get together later. No card, no call, nuthin. He's working 14 hours a day all next week, so might as well not expect anything else.

Even though I'm not a father or stepfather....., I can sort of relate to relationships with stepchildren.
My roomie's adult son and daughter called separately today and and we each had a good visit with both of them. Their dad died several years ago and I think they felt pretty lonely for him being it was Father's Day. I've been in their lives since they were 4 and 5 and really appreciate the fact that they consider me 'family'.

As to gifts in a general sense, I don't really give a damn about anybody buying me much of anything...a two buck card is just fine. I'd rather visit with the kids, play graba$$ with our combined grandchildren and stuff like that than get some elaborate present. Besides, it never fits..... Jan..thinkn' a pair of aluminum heads would be cool, though...

well my stedad.....i try to make him feel like my real dad, b/c my real dad really dont want any thing to do with us. but i fixed his front sus. on his truck, he was really happy. i know it isnt much but when he drove it he had a big grin on his face, and seemed like he loved it, his kids dont really love him, they just love him when they need money. so hes glad he has me so that i can be a son figure to him and he can be my father figure.

My dad was actually here at my house on a surprise visit. I totally forgot about father's day til I called my mom and she said she was taking her boyfriend to the coast to see one of his kids and to unwind a bit while she had the chance. Sure glad she reminded me! My sis forgot also and had called later in the day to wish my dad happy fathers day. They, step mom and dad had left the day before mother's day for Maine and when I talked to her I had totally forgotten so told when we were here.
