cars in barns

Nothing here that can't be fixed with alot of love and money. The first Shelby I bought had sat in a goat barn for 10 years. It had been wrecked run up on a gaurd rail, improperly repaired, drag raced then wrecked again, before being disassembled then stored in the goat barn. Many times I wished we had taken pictures before pulling it out.

Tim,

We used to have a flatbed car hauler truck back in the '70s and supported our racing habit by hauling cars to the crusher for about $30 a ton. I won't EVEN mention how many Starliners, Sunliners plain Galaxies, Mustangs, Fairlanes, Comets, Thunderbirds, etc, etc. that met their fate by getting scrunched back then... But at the time, all they were were 10-20 year old beaters we bought for 15 bux at the most apiece.

I dunno.... I know some of the younger guys/gals won't agree, but the 'Old Cars in Barns' site nor cars sitting in fields that I can't buy don't bother me a bit. Everybody has a right to do as they will with their personal property, so who am I to bitch that they're not doing what I wish they were? It just makes me prouder of the few I've been able to save. I even let a decent '65 Mustang coupedeteriorate outside for about 15 years myself. I saved it for my daughter and me to fix up, but finances, time and other stuff got in the way. I finally didn't have a place to store her and sold the 'Stang as a parts car to a restorer. Wish I'd not let it happen, but.....

cars in barns

A widow two houses down from my parents has a few old fords sitting and rusting away. One is a '65 Mustang Gt A-code coupe that is red (now faded to orange) with whats left of a black interior. If it was a K-code I'd be asking her daily if she wanted to sell. She still drives it. About ten years ago she sold a '65 or '66 mustang fastback to some Aussies. She still has a '55 body style ford truck sitting by her garage.

People used to come and ask me about her and the cars when they saw me washing my previous '66 Mustang FB in front of my parents house. They all said the lady would slam the door in their face when they asked if the car was for sale.

The story is that the lady lost her husband some years back and is emotionally attached to the cars he left behind. I've never talked to her directly.
