Today I actually made something that worked
It wasn't on my ford, but it was wrenching in general. I am putting these not really made for the car carbs on my vw, and had some problems with the linkage. There is a bar across the two carbs to open them at the same time, which I got from a kit made for another type of carb. The bar had fittings on the end and all that. It also was about an inch too long. So today, using all the right tools, I shortened the rod. I used my angle grinder to cut a section out, threaded the inside of the tube, used a stud in the middle and made it the right length. Then I welded up the stud to the tubes, ground it down even and painted it. Looks like it was made to be that length.
Just a first for me, never actually did anything that looked even close to nice with a welder and an angle grinder before.
