i mentioned to the little woman that i was going to sell my mustang and got my a$$ jumped! so here is my question...
how much will it cost to finish my car??
here is what all i need...

Well, you need to provide a little more input. Are you just gonna throw a used C4 at it or get a built one? Are you talking some steel rims & caps or aftermarket rims? Do you want some performance tires or just some decent rubber to keep the shiny side up?
Hell, the tires & rims alone could swing the price several hundred dollars. Tire Rack has 215 60 R 14 tires (I think that is what fits on you stang) between $41 and $98. On 4 that's over $200 difference on tires alone.

$1100~$1200 for the items mentioned - that's assuming you said one rim and it's sourced from a recycler. If you need 4 good wheels or something like Magnums then its like $600+ more.

I paid $100 plus tax for my rims and you could hit Pepboys for $99 special on 4. Now my wheels might not be name brand but they are good enough to cruise around in.
That's only 200 bucks for wheels and tires not including a spare. What can I say, I'm cheap.

how much will it cost??
here is what all i need...
rebuild kit for motorcraft 2V - $25
re-ring kit for '74 302 - $85
alternator for same - $50
C4 trans to replace my junk FMX(stocker, boneyard special) - $150
converter for same - $50
front bumper and cover - $300? Total WAG
windshield - $200 installed
new tires 14x6?? wheel(new tires, not wheels, and nothing special, maybe 225/60/14s) - so $200 for some basic rubber
So $1060 total. Say add another 1/4 for incidentals like fluids, plug wires, etc. In the $1200 to $1500 range should be a decent estimate.
Of course the front bumper and cover might be a lot more or less depending on if you can find a used or repop one.

how much will it cost??
well now that i know that i am beginning to wonder about the 302 idea...
since i already have a 77 lincoln all lined out with a good 460 in it i may spend the extra $ and use that motor instead, and build a C4 instead of just stuffing in a stock one. guess i gotta stop being cheap at some point...
the $ amount doesnt seem to be all that different and the performance difference would be pretty honkin huge.
guess i have all my questions answered now, just gotta get back home and back to work and get crackin!
later,

Man, I don't know what it will cost to get it on the road but, I think it's great "the Little Woman" won't let you sell it.

I hear you on the 460 performance boost, but do you really think you can get it on the road with a 460 and a built C4 for less than $3000?

the only price increases i am looking at are for the re-ring kit, since the 460 kit is alittle steeper, plus the cost of a cam and an aluminum intake, i dont even think i will mess with headers at first since all the headers i can find for my car are freakin huge like 2" tube headers...so if the 77 lincoln manifolds will work then i will use them. as far as the trans goes i asked around and qtrmiler says a case fill C4 just freshened up will take what im gonna be puttin against it. so there ya have it, its gonna cost alittle more, but not too much.
oh yeah, i think the new mounts will cost me about $150-200.
but the seat of the pants difference should be worth the $$, especially compared to what it would cost to make my little 302 pull that hard.
