it's a Ranchero. I believe 60 to 66 or 67 then the Ranchero nameplate went to the Fairlane.

yep, that is definately a falcon ranchero. i kind of wish i owned one of that year(64-65). the ranchero actually started in 1957 on the full size ford chassis, went to the falcon chassis in 1960, then to the fairlane chassis in 1966, which then morphed to the torino chassis in 1968. in 1977 it went on the ltd ll chassis where the nameplate ended in 1979 along with the ltd ll. my favorite ranchero's are the 66, the 70-71, and the 77-79's. the 66 and the 67 were actually the same vehicle, except the 66 used the falcon front sheetmetal, and the 67 used the fairlane sheetmetal. the front fenders and hoods are interchangable on the 66 and 67 ranchero's.

I saw this one at the ford dealer's show. Finally got a close look at one of those "air conditioners". As hot as it was that day all I could think of is speedy blow dryer.

Do they actually cool the air some before it shoots in at ya?
If so, do they make a windshield top mounted one for topless cars? Mine won't always be topless but would be kinda cool for those days you go out and it really heats up.

A guy I know in southern Ontario has one for sale which looks alot like that. No motor or trans and the shell looks pretty solid. I could find out particulars if someone is interested?? I believe it is still for sale as I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks. Derrick

I guess the key was the low humidity.....you needed to evaporate that water quickly.

That's what we have on the roof of our house here is a big swamp cooler. It doesn't do too bad til it gets up to about 102 then it's a little warm in the house. I had the window type when I was at Fort Hood but it was ancient and I had to fill it myself because the faucet was outside the fence and the cows would eat the hose if you kept it hooked up I didn't realize those had water in them also.
I don't know what the one on the roof here is like but the window unit I had the 'box' was lined with a straw like stuff and a pump would pump the water up to the top where there were 3 'sprayers', one for each side but the one in the window that had a big squirrel cage fan in that part. It didn't work real good but was better than nothing on top of it needed some more 'straw' in the sides to hold more water.
