Remembered something funny... Open headers are fun.

I don't know why but I just thought of the time I had open headers on my Gal a few months back before I got my exhaust. That was good fun. I remember coming home from a night out with my buddies and turning the engine off to coast past cops.

When I lit 'em up out of the parking lot though one musta heard it and chased after me then pulled alongside. I told my buddies to act cool, as I was slowly letting off the gas to keep teh engine laod very small and keep it quiet. Then the cop shined a light in the car, so I looked over, and yelled over the roar of my engine "It wasn't me!". He laughed and drove off. [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif[/img]

One day I went over to my aunts house to fix her computer. When I pulled in the driveway I heard something break. Apparently my car was so thunderously loud that it knocked her kitchen clock off the wall from a good 60-70 feet away, with the headers pointed away from the house!

The neighbors even stopped giving me dirty looks now that my car has an exhaust. [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif[/img]

Ahhh, good times. I remember way back in the day I would go to eat Pizza & drink beer after the races on Saturday night. I got lazy & didn't wanna cap up the Spoiler & drove it there. By the time we left there were 4 cop cars & I was a little drunk. Had a friend in my old SS454 go trigger the turn lane light & when the opposing light went yellow, I fired it up & slammed it into first & flew home, about 1 mile. Porch lights everywhere, noise was awsome! Parked it in the back yard & got in the SS, he then got pulled over & got the ticket I should have got [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif[/img]

Every season, (beginning of the season), the neighbors know when I've got the engine back from the machine shop, and installed in the car.
I've broken more bulb filaments, and knocked more pictures off of walls then I can remember.
Good humor talking to them each spring to find out what kinda damage I did this time. (all in good humor. they're pretty good ****s about that). Plus I rarely start (or have to), start the car up between trips to the track, so that puts them at ease a bit.

I've got holders, and my shelves are at an angle in my garage JUST for running open headers in there. (been there, dropped that/knocked that off). [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

Playing "car alarm" is fun. Open headers sure make it easy. Even with the exhaust on my Galaxie, I can still set a lot of them off. My Excursion, with its larger, aftermarket exhaust, also does a fine job. Parking ramps are always entertaining to idle through. [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
