here in France, deads in car accident drop by 50% due to speed radars anywhere, lots of controls, and gas high price.

ps : you are correct, I was talking of us soldiers in Irak.

seems that this news was not really onthe front page of newspapers in the US;

Certainly not to down play the sugnificance of the 1,000 dead ...

But for perspective purposes ...

At this rate it would take about 100 years to match the number killed in Viet Nam.

In WWII we lost that many every day or two in many instances.

We lost three times that many folks who did nothing worse than show up for work one Tuesday morning.

Also, never under-estimate the imoprtance of the mission ...

That mission is "set the stage" for growing a social environment of Freedom and Liberty in the region ... hopefully that free society will find this barbaric nonsense untolerable.

History seems to tell us that is so.

These young Americans have paid the ultimate price for an honorable and important cause.

French, before you go making comments like that, you should do some research first. It is all over the papers here in the states. Yes it is very sad. I am very proud of those men & women who gave their lives for the freedom of the Iraqi people. They have done a very wonderful job helping others to gain their freedom in the face of tyranny. I also am very proud of any former or current soldier of the US. They have long fought to keep our freedom and others freedom safe.

Not only should we honor the dead we should also think of the many more who are coming home missing arms or legs or severly injured. Because they were willing to put their lives on the line for this country their lives will never be the same. Wish I could see an end to this but I don't. Whether you was for or against the war we can't just leave Iraq now or we will just have to go back later. That is what happened in the first gulf war. But hind sight is 20/20. I just pray for all the men and women and their families. They all are giving up so much.

Frenchstang, I agree. God bless their families.

It is sad every time good people have to pay the ultimate price to protect their country and the world from evil men. In our case if we do not answere the call there is nobody who will do it for us. It is our duty and we accept it but in no way like it or are happy it is this way. I will add God bless our troops and the U.S.A. That is not up for debate!

All Frenchstang stated was to have God bless the families of the 1000 soldiers that have died. He made no comment about the war. I would hope that if this was ment to imply anything more than a respect for those that have given their lives that Frenchstang would have had the guts to come out and say it!!!

We will continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave!
