Whats a 1950 4 door Ford custom (shoe box car) worth

Here is the description:

1950 FORD CUSTOM. 4 DOOR. FLATHEAD V-8. 3 SPD MANUAL TRANSMISSION. 108K ORIGINAL MILES. ALL MATCHING NUMBERS. GARAGE KEPT. ADULT OWNED(3rd OWNER). STOCK 1950 FORD SHERIDAN BLUE EXTERIOR(ORIGINALLY GREEN). SUPER NICE WHITE/BLUE INTERIOR!!! 6 VOLT, NEW BATTERY. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT STOCK CONDITION!!! STARTS UP FIRST TIME AND DRIVES PERFECT. EVERYTHING WORKS, IT’S AMAZING. NO PROBLEMS. ENGINE RUNS STRONG!!!

The only mod on it is the original color was dark green. I am going to test drive it tomorrow. The guy said it has no leaks and no rust and a good transmission. I think the flathead might need to be rebuilt soon though. The guy who I was speaking to (owners daughters boyfriend) said it was a 3 something or other engine (refering to the c.i.'s maybe a 302?) Does anybody have any info on this style car. I cant figure out how to post a pic, but it looks mint. What might one pay for it in excellent condition. Its a 4 door though. Are the 4 doors worth anything? thanks

4 doors are generally worth about $500-1000 less than a comparable 2 door car.

In a 4 door auto, it's up to the person buying to set his price because he/she may not get quite what they expect out of it later in life. They are definitely less desireable than a 2dr version of the same car in overall sellability.

The motor is a 239 CI. the specs are/should be...: B & S 3.1875 X 3.75: Max Brake HP = 100. Comp ratio: 6.80:1. ID the motor it should have 24 head bolts. And comes with a Ford-Holley 2bbl Carb. The motor should be painted Bronze for 1950/1951.

Thanks for the info. The guy wanted $8 grand, but might go $4000 on it cause it been listed for over 7 months now and I might only pay $2000 if its even worth it. I'll keep you posted. I was thinking this one would make a good hot-rod!!!!!

Makes me wish I still had the half dozen 49 - 51 Fords I've had. Up till 4 - 5 years ago you could pick 'em up round these parts for 250 - 1000 bucks. They've definately gone up in value in the past few years.

So I test drove this 1950 ford yesterday. It was pretty smooth. The engine was pretty quite (in idle) and sounded good ( almost sounded like it stalled at one point but just a real quite idle) .....Then I looked under the hood. The radiator looked like if I had touched it, it would have turned to dust. It looked a bit rusty underneath and some leaks in the rear. A really cool car though. Interior was really nice. I felt like I was in an airplane cockpit. The guy wouldn't budge on the price though. I don't blame him I guess..... too much for me though.

oh and the carb was leaking from just about every angle...

You Definitely dont need to spend 8G's on that thing... Keep your eye on "bigkahunaaj" 's e-bay auctions. He has access to many many nice Montana cars, and let's them go for decent prices when thay come to him.
