Kmart buys Sears

This merger concerns me too. I have already noticed a decline in Crapsman tools over the last 5 years. At least it seems I have to trade them in more often now. Is it going to get worse as they cut costs and increase profits for the new mega company? However, this may be a good justification to the wife for upgrading the tools as they break to MAC or Snap-On.

That reminds me of Champion spark plugs. I used to always by them at kmart along with the "kit" of points, condenser and rotor. A few years ago I used Champions in my piece of chevy van. We swapped engines and had it going and then it just quit. My aunt and uncle came to visit and we put a new dist in and everything else trying to find the problem. In the end all the plugs were fouled. Probably caused by me having a vac line in the wrong place which filled everything with gas. oops. My uncle said those Champions are garabage and went on and on about them. I told him I had always used them with no trouble but this was the first time buying them at an auto parts store instead of Kmart. Last year we were home in Oregon visiting the family. My sis and brother inlaw had bought the A and U's old motorhome which was a 77 chevy w/350 just like my van had. They couldn't get it running and my uncle had told them it was probably the electronic ignition or coil. Since there had been nothing wrong with mine I kept the old parts and had carried them up there with me. I swapped out the whatever it is called on top of the dist which the old didn't look like anything was wrong with it but who knows. Then I noticed the rotor cap was trashed. So I call my brother inlaw who was off running around somewhere to pick one up. In the mean time I looked in this box under the driver seat that he told me about to see if there might be a better one in there. My uncle kept it under there with spare parts etc. Besides 2 or 3 fried rotors, what do I see in that box? Old Champion spark plugs in the little boxes!! I look at the plugs on the engine...Champion! I have you know I haven't let him live that one down!! Oh and the rotor was all that was wrong with the van. My bro inlaw said I should come visit more often.
