Whatever Happened to the Late Model Cougars?

I remember seeing a lot of them around a few years ago, and they seemed to have dried up. Are they still making them? I thought they looked good, and I remember driving a rental and it handled beautifully.

Wha happen?

I had a 99. All I can say is The damned thing handled like it was on rails. I took a curve being an idiot and was thinking to myself "this is going to suck!" But in the end I came out yelling "THAT ROCKED!"

I miss'er though. constant ECM problems forced me to get rid of it,.

Yeah. I remember being in San Francisco on a business trip with my wife (hers) and us renting a Cougar. I drove. The car handled magically in the turns.

Sheesh.

I think they are going to bring back a retro looking one like the 67 model with hidden headlights like they changed the body style of the mustang.

There is a rumor floating around. I hope they do this Mercury needs this vehicle to bring in new customers. Marauder was nice but a 07 XR7 would knock the socks off of all who go into the showroom.
