Cleaning interior...
Okay, I found the best vinyl cleaner ever. The door apnels on my '68 are all ingrained with 38 years of dirt, as are teh seats and everything else. The only interior part that cleans up like new is the dash and the carpets under the rubber floor mats. I figured I'd jsut try to find repop door panels and such when I had the money to get new seat covers.
So today I tried some hand cleaner with lanolin (Go-Jo, the type with lanolin, must read ingredients as tehre are different types). I scrubbed it into a corner of my door panel with a toothbrush and it worked incredibly, the vinyl looks new. I then did the top of my armrest, and then part of the silvery strip that runs vertically above the door handle. The armrest was kinda stiff before, but now is soft and pliable and looks so very rich and vibrant. It's so clean. The metal strip was all yellowed and nasty looking (the passenger side is in great shape to compare to), and after just doing a little scrubbing it looks much better, but still needs some more scrubbing. My girlfriend called so i went to pick her up and spend the day with her, and got cut short of doing the whole door, but what I did looks incredible.
Tomorrow I'm gonna go gung-ho and try to get as much of the interior vinyl cleaned up and looking pristine like that as I can. I'm all excited at how great it cleans up.
One interesting thing I noticed while reading the ingredients is that there is spermicide in the hand cleaner, Nonoxynol-9. But anyhow if your vinyl has dirt and grime ingrained in the texture that doesn't wanna come out, get some hand cleaner with lanolin and a toothbrush, and have at it!
