Anybody see \"Full Throttle\" with the Ranchero/El Camino race??

Of course they gotta give all the advantage to the Chevy....like a Posi-Tracticion rear, a 3500 RPM convertor, and more compression. The El Camino (1972) is also a little bit lighter than the `74 Ranchero.
The Ford had the stock open rearend which probably had 3.00 gears and they gave it a 1600 RPM convertor and about 8:1 compression.
It did'nt do too bad against the Chevy considering its shortcomings, but the way everybody rags on Ford products on that show is very biased

Oh Chevy's are just soooo great! Oh great one Please let me have a Chevy!!!

I wonder what intake manifold they used on the ford for the 400 engine..... they could have used the WEIAND open plenum with the manifold spacers but they prolly didnt.

I saw about 10 min of it. They started talkin history, and about how great the chevy was, then they got to the part about the vacuum modulator being broken and how pissed off the turbo twit got ( I was thinkin to myself that shifting manually with a ratchet shifter kinda means the modulator is out of the loop) so I just turned it off. I already knew the Chevy was gona win, thanks for confirming it for me.

Chevy never produced a 383 in a car or truck. Thats where the second flag comes in.

Yeah , it was lopsided and it was clear they knew the Chevy would bring in more viewers, but I was happy to see a 74 Ranchero on an hour long TV show.

It really hurt when the guy that lost the last race gave a sarcastic "Oh Boy" when he was headed home with "just" an Ranchero. A moment before he said that I was telling my wife I wouldn't mind having both cars.

I would send them a posi center for a "ON AIR" rematch. Mine is only a 3.25 but I am sure someone would donate a 4.11 for the cause.

I would gladly have "worked" with them on this show as a consultant. I mean crap, I built several 13.0 cars for less than they paid for the parts on one of these cars

We all need to start a letter writing campaign. If they are gonna put this show on as a "historical documentary", they need to start showing Mel Brooks', the History of the World.
