Hey You Smart Fellas!
What do I need to make my +.030 390 into a 400 HP motor?
It's going into my '67 F-250.
Whatever you know of that it takes wether it be parts or labor who can list what I need? No NOS systems be included please...

FE

Hey You Smart Fellas!
A set of edelbrock rpm heads 10 to 1 comp ratio, a fair size cam should get you there nbo problem

Hey You Smart Fellas!
Damn!
Now, for my second question... Will my stock AE-R or AE-H heads let me do it? I think that's what they are...

Hey You Smart Fellas!
C6AE-R - go to the guy in Gretna for some cheap porting. The C8AE-H is a good torque head, but the C6 will make more power, its very similar to the CJ head. One bad thing, the C8AE-H will make more compression, so figure out your compression and pick whichever one will get you to 9.5:1 or better. Either way, have them ported, it'll make that motor boogie
Edelbrock RPM intake, 750 carb any flavor
280H cam or new Extreme energy equiv
Headers
Have the dist recurved to have 38 in by 3000
You'll be there
By the way, this is the exact setup I run in my 70 4x4 and it ran a best of 14.90's way back when, with 33 inch tires and a 3.91 gear, even plowed snow, the cam is mild in a 390

Hey You Smart Fellas!
One Last thing guy's. I'm putting a Tri-power intake on it (when and if I can find one affordable...) will that take away from anything??
The Heads are c6ae-r... Both Pair... One set from my 67 352, and one set from my 66 390.

Hey You Smart Fellas!
The tripower is for looks, not for power. They are decent, but a 3310 on an RPM will run circles around it. If you have your heart set on it, go for it, but you wont make the power a single 4 can with those low rise trips

God They look good though!
What about a Dual Quad?
Better?? Worse?? Need more motor??

Hey You Smart Fellas!
A dual quad with 2 450 Holleys will run good, but again, a nice modern Edelbrock RPM with a good 4 bbl will run right with it and be A LOT easier to une and make just as much if not more power.
I have done dual quads, cross rams, single plane,, dual plane, small and large port FE's and the bottom line, even a Predator with nitrous on my F100
A good high rise dual plane (Edel RPM, F427, or 428 PI) with a big Holley just does most everything right.
With that being said, a nice med riser intake, with a pair of 450 Holleys and progressive linkage would run nice, it would just double the cost for really no additional power

Hey You Smart Fellas!
IMHO the only multi-carb setup worth doing is that cool old Mopar spider leg crossram. If I could make one of those for an old galaxie, Id have to make a plexiglass hood just to show it off.
Stick with a nice Holley 4 pot, and you'll be good to go.
