Does the panic attach go away?? or do you get used to it

HI ALL
NOW I know I'm going to get flamed for this...
But every now and again on a Firday or Saturday night I cruse the down town and sometimes I get into a light to light. Last Friday night I got into one with a Chev pu. (Theres about 4 blocks befor the next light at this one) well he left befor the light was green he was across the intersection by the time the light turned green. I waited for the light to turn. When he left my pulse rate and resperation went WAY UP and I was almost shaking.. as I waited for the light to change.. I haven't been to a track yet with the truck Does this panic attack go away after a few runs??
OH I blew passed him in a 1/2 block.
Bring on the Flames

YOU GO BOY! I'll not flame you for a slight mixup between the track and a 4 block light... Everybody (almost) slips up from time to time...

Yeah, the nerves go away after a while. You still get that feeling in your stomach, but it isn't all-consuming like it is now. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets this feeling. Its fun to dust CRX's with my toyota tacoma V-6. They can see that FORDMUSCLE sticker fade as I pull away!

Thats good to know Joe. I guess I should have known that as I used to get the adrinalin shakes when I was round round racing but it kind of went away after awhile.

Depends. $1000 on the line can cause some mild distraction.

Thats a good rule, Greg. That seems like thats all I ever do is a 1-2 blast then let off and coast down to speed although I dont generally go much over the limit to begin with.

I agree with that. When someone decides they want to try me at the stop light, I wont usually let it go past the speed limit. The good ol one two shift, and then I let off at the speed limit...sadly though, the lights around my school are always jam packed, so there's never a chance to really make a powerful launch and stretch the cars legs against some friendly competition.

Another thing though, nobody at school drives anything worth beating or even trying to beat (except for the two girls with the 60,000 dollar AMG SLK and Jaguar but they drive like old people). Though one of my friends dads has an M3 and my friends all treat it as the god of all cars...(except mine ) They don't beleive that my poor little old Mustang can beat a sleek modern machine... But then again, they haven't ridden in my car either...Poor pitiful rich kids...

BUT, I'll go from a stop light, just minding my buisiness driving normally, as the cavalier beside me has it on the floor and laughs triumphantly as his car starts to pull ahead.

Some people...

If it were not for the rush and excitement there would be no need to go racing

I started racing 2 years ago and my first run down the track I was extremely nervous until the last yellow amber lit and I left then I forgot what I was so scared of. It was awesome!
