It\'s hot! Don\'t touch it!
How come every time I weld up something for one of my friends, they immediately feel the need to touch it? Wasn't the fact that I just fused two pieces of metal together by getting them hot enough to melt enough information? Yet, they always grab the newly welded piece. Maybe it's some psychological thing where if it isn't glowing red, than it must be cool to the touch. Or maybe, I have idiot friends. I am starting to think my friends are just that, idiots! Any opinions on whether my friends are really stupid or is this some welding phenomenon?

Wheaton, that would explain a lot. No, they are right here in Rockville, which I might add has it's fair share of idiots/mutants.

The only thing I can think of to analogize it for you is, "Like the moth to the flame", no one knows why it just is. I have seen the same thing where I work, but not with hot metal. Just putting their hands where they dont belong because they get mezmorized by it for some unknown reason.

I think it is something some never outgrow. You know, like when we are all little we have to touch and taste everything, it just sticks with some.

It's the same thing that causes people to shine a flashlight in your eyes to show how bright it is.

I used to have some buddies from Wheaton (and Rockville) that used to make fun of me for living in the backwater of Maryland, you know, Cecil County.
Guess who got to work on their cars? Yep.
BTW, Most of Cecil isn't so backwater anymore, thanks to all the people from EVERYWHERE else that came and priced us natives out of housing. Well, I was leaving anyway, lol.
It's weird though, what I COULD have bought for 60K is close to 200K now. Who knew? Somebody did...
