Proform Electric Fan

After driving today in traffic, (it was about 75º), my temp crept up in traffic to 200. Thats not too bad, but my trans temp went up to about 230-ish, which is a little hot for my taste. I have a cooler on it, but i think with the flex fan on it it's not pulling enough air to get through the cooler. I also don't want to worry about temp creep.

I could get a shroud, but the thing is, the car is so cold natured because the fan spins all the time, and never lets the coolant heat up at idle when it's cold out.

I finally settled on an electric fan, and now I've finally come up with the $$ I think.

I think I've settled on this one http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=PRO%2D67015

My question is, has anyone run these fans before and will the advertised 2800cfm be enough to cool my 250RWHP 302.
Basically, is it worth it.

Dad and I think its enough, but I just wanted a third opinion.

(i also need to fix my vapor lock problem with the fuel line laying on the rad hose)

Why not the S.H.O fan? They look much sleeker and fit real nice. Not to mention they pull massive amounts of air.

Maybe im cheap but 125 bucks for something i can get for 50 bucks tops seems crazy.

But then again you do have an older stang so it may not fit.

If it does fit though id go for the S.H.O fan.

The fan featured in fordmuscles junkyard taurus fan project does not fit the 65-66 radiator, it's too big.

I thought it may have been.

Well then what about the "BLACK MAGIC" which is basically the same fan in the pic.

A factory ford clutch fan and shroud should cool a 230rwhp car no problem. If not you got other problems.

I have the black magic fan, I presume it's the same under a different name:
lots of pictures there:

just one here:

it does the job correctly, i am happy with it. a bit tricky to install in my 65, but it did fit at the end.

I dont have a a stock radiator - Summit aluminum one - It measures 18x22 fin area.

Fogged are you saying I should get a clutch fan? Because I just have a regular flex fan right now.

Also, I think the electrics are prettier.

The only issue with the SHO fan is that I have to find one, replace the motor, etc., whereas with a new one I bolt it in and go.

(This post goes to show that people do not always suggest hardcore racing products - nobody has suggested an $800 dual electric magical fan setup. Thanks guys! see Cupcake, its possible)

http://www.derale.com

Look into the #16926

It fits the 65-66 radiator LIKE A GLOVE, blows like a hurricane, and is only 3.19" thick.

Hotrodair sells it as THEIR high output w/AC fan with their 65-66 mustang kits.

It kicks butt.

They also sell ADJUSTABLE fan controllers that turn the fan on and off automatically. These controllers include a built-in relay (for high current apps) and an override switch that allows you to turn the fan on whenever you want. (it can be hooked up to the AC if your car has it as well)

Check out their website.

Good Luck!

Electric fans are nice, but I prefer to avoid extra electrical equipment. PArt of my paranoia against all things electrical.

A clutch fan and a shroud will cool much better than a flex fan. Flex fans are a waste of money IMHO. Im using a clutch fan and shroud on my 460 powered mustang and it works just fine. Stock size radiator, but it is a 4 row.

A shroud combined with your flex will DRASTICALLY improve your cooling situation, but a clutch is a far better choice.

As for a shroud affecting your warm up, I think it wouldnt change much, as its still blowing the same amount of air back.
