Optima batteries are ABSOLUTELY not worth the money!!!!

no the factory battery didn't go dead after a week. the factory battery went dead a week after i bought it. when we bought the car the car was already almost 10 years old. its a 93 car. so the factory battery lasted a long time, 3 times longer than this optima. the old battery hard motorsport and ford all over it.

well, the optima now is being charged all weekend long until monday so maybe it'll hold charge after then and i'll have a spare battery for either one of the mustangs.

Nothing but praise for Optima.

I run a red battery in my Falcon. No alternator last season and I never had one problem.

This winter, the work truck (Ranger) quit charging. Alt tested OK. I've been using the Optima ever since. Drive it for a couple of days and trickle it overnight. Still starts good. Lights on, heater cranked, radio blasting.

I wouldn't trade my Optima for anything less than two Optima's.

Aren't the red tops the one you are to use for daily drivers and the yellow are to be used in boats and stuff like that ?

had a red top on a mud truck, it came loose from the hold down and ended up against a header, melted it till you could see the core. i assumed it was junk and it set for a long time, got bored one day about 3 years later and put in on the charger, came right up...so i duraglassed over the hole and put it on another beater mud truck, still works to this day!
sorry bout your luck, but i think you can gather that you must have just gotten a bad one. also do check out your alt. and such, it really sounds like that car may have a charging system issue.

nope, the alternative is charging likes it suppose to. at idle i got almost 15 volts. so i know its not the alt. if i were to rev the motor, it goes up a little bit too and comes back down when its brought back to idle.

Sounds like you found your problem. Optimas are very sensitive to over charging. 15+ volts is too high.

15V is too much. That will cook any battery....

Most alternators put out around 13.8V

Check your other cars.
