Don't know why the Sportrak is over charging, but it
sounds high to me. Between 13.8 and 14.2 volts is
more the norm. I'd make the dealer check it out.

Just a thought....

You've got two newer vehicles reading approx. 14.5 volts at idle. Is there any chance that the meter you are using is not accurate? I would take the car that reads 15 volts to the local Autozone or Pep Boys. I think they will come outside and test the charging system for you.

Idle, 3000 rpm, WOT - voltage regulator should regulate the voltage to close to 13.8 volts.

i went out there when the sport trac was warm and i was right and i checked the voltage at a fast idle.

i check it at its normal warm idle (700) and the voltage was 14.10. i guess thats better than 14.6 and being overcharged.
