Before too long, I believe 2007? They will pretty much be equal.

Me, for one. Why slam what someone else may enjoy just because you don't? NASCAR is FAR from perfect. But it's still the best game in town if you like competitive bigtime racing.

Nascar cheaters....
Never been a big NASCAR fan myself, but the last few years, my wife has been dragging me into the sport. I've been following Kurt for a few years. He's always been a consistent runner.
My one beef with the sport is the lack of use of "stock" cars. I wouldn't want to get rid of safety equipment, but I feel the car's aerodynamics shouldn't be changed. I also feel that only cars built as rear wheel drive should be used. One more thing - if it doesn't come with a 355 ci V8 from the factory, don't use a 355 V8.
It'll never go back to that, though.

I've tried watching NASCAR a few timew with my friends, but I just don't get it. Driving around in circles makes me dizzy. Give me the old 1/4 mile, short and sweet!

What could be more boring???????? Have you ever seen a NHRA event that pulled 150 to 200 thousand fans? No and never will; not even totaling the TV fans. That's why you never see a live NHRA event on the tube. There's just as many, if not more, restrictive rules in drag racing as there are in NASCAR. All the pro stock and gassers and the big boys run the same thing. You can't tell one car from the next. Don't get me wrong, I love the drags, but mostly the shallow pocket guys in their homemades.
Every NASCAR NEXTEL race is sold out, from New Hampshire to California, so they are not all southern rednecks. They are talking about going to Canada next. The foriegn countries love NASCAR.
Ray Everhan had the biggest fine in NASCAR history when he worked with Gordon. If they were so bias JR would not have been fined 25 points last year for saying **** . I'm not a Jr. fan but, that wasn't a fair shake. He's been cut a lot of breaks on the track, but that wasn't one of them.
Takes a lot of nerve and skill to run NASCAR. Jeff Gordon once told my nephew that he would driive a Volkswagon if it meant driving in the Winston Cup. He won the Busch in a Ford.

Nascar cheaters....
Sure, cheating happens in every sport... doesn't mean it should, or make it right. I DO feel that if you're one of the cheaters, that you've got no right complaining about someone else cheating... but I for one try to play by the rules. Winning an event knowing you cheated to get it is just a hollow win.

Uh? Um? Do you know that to run a LIVE NHRA event on TV it would take all day? Not to mention all weekend? If I want to watch true stock car racing I'll stick to SCCA thanks. The only TRUE stock car racing in america, Other then the fine folks who run at local short tracks that use a real car.
NA_CAR is great entertainment. But it was put on a pedestal that it should not be on. Well, Since they quit using stock cars for a base it is just a joke. RWD Monte's and Tauruses? Stock car racing? *cough cough-bulls__t-cough cough*

Lance, restrictor plates were mandated for ALL cars at the two superspeedways in '87 after Bobby Allison ripped down part of the spectator fence in his Buick at Talladega and several people were hurt. It had little to do with Bill Elliott qualifying at 217 mph, other than the fact that the cars had gotten too fast for the two tracks. Bill never drove for the Wood Brothers, by the way. He drove for his dad's #9 team which was bought by Harry Melling in the mid '80s until he moved to Junior Johnson's Ford team in '92. I'm not saying that NASCAR has never favored GM....they have, but not pertaining to this rule.
