Nascar cheaters....
Since I was out of town for the weekend and ignored Las Vegas...the race should have been at Rockingham , I hadn't heard about this yet. I'll check my sources and give you some answers after work tomorrow. But it's NASCAR's policy that the winner be declared..cheating or not at the conclusion of the race.
Lance, restrictor plates were mandated for ALL cars at the two superspeedways in '87 after Bobby Allison ripped down part of the spectator fence in his Buick at Talladega and several people were hurt. It had little to do with Bill Elliott qualifying at 217 mph, other than the fact that the cars had gotten too fast for the two tracks. Bill never drove for the Wood Brothers, by the way. He drove for his dad's #9 team which was bought by Harry Melling in the mid '80s until he moved to Junior Johnson's Ford team in '92. I'm not saying that NASCAR has never favored GM....they have, but not pertaining to this rule.
