Update to my motor

Well I got it back together had some issues with the new mini starter couldnt get that to work went with the trusty stock starter, anyways I cranked it up with regular 10w30 oil wanted to run it for 10-20 min well I watched the oil pressure go from 80lbs which was were it had been at to 60lbs in less than 5 min I am not sure of what is the average range but wanted to shut it off before it went lower and ask, I will drain this oil and see what I can see if there is anything and maybe put the 10w30 synthetic in and try that any thoughts on what I might look for try or dropping 20lbs of pressure not too big of a deal? thanks

Robert

Update to my motor

Sounds fine to me.My 460 has 78 cold/40 hot with 10/30.It jumps to 60 with just a touch of the pedal and cruses there too.I use to freak out about it but after 5 years of with no change in behavior I don't worry about it anymore.

Update to my motor

I changed the oil and it looked clean as best as I can tell so did the filter I ran it for about 10min and it stayed right around 55-60 lbs so I guess that is good I didnt run it any longer the water temp was rising to 220 thought I should get the electric fans hooked up first it still has open exhaust so as far as I can tell no funny noises I am going to start on the exhaust as soon as it cools down and measure the driveshaft and get that done this week may even drive it by next weekend and hope for the best, I also think I figured out why the neutral saftey switch wasnt working the linkage wasnt adjust correctly so I will see about that too after it cools, thanks for the replys
