Boss 429 engine in local paper

I was flipping through the local paper last week and found an ad for a Boss 429 engine. There was no price so I called about it and talked to the guy for about an hour. Turns out he's an engine builder from Iowa and he loves Fords. He had about 12 of these engines. This is his last one and he's
asking $15,500. Initially it sounded like a lot of money but really I don't think it would be a bad deal if someone really needed one. He also said the engine is still completely standard size.

Havn't seen one of those for sale around here. I'm sure they're still out there but pretty rare to find one.

Aaron.

Boss 429 engine in local paper

years back (early-mid 80's) a local guy picked up an offset sprinter from Goodyear(race tire test car) that came with a BUNCH of spare tricked out Bosses...think he had 5 complete/plus spare heads and such- man I'd love to have a set of those heads...I think he paid like 25k for the whole shebang and sold the car/trailer alone for over 50k, and sold off the engines separately...often wondered what happened to those engines- all had steel/stroker cranks, ss valves, drysumps, portwork...not street motors, but still. when I saw him he was building a 1/2 size woodie on a chevy luv chassis- saw a big ol boss hemi head on the bench covered in sawdust... that guy built some really cool stuff over the years, he just passed away last fall...hopefully some of his work will be around for a long time yet.

Just got offered a regular 429 thats missing the heads (& I assume the intake) in need of a rebuild for $200 & it has a C6 hanging off the back of it.... I'm thinking about dropping it into my '70 Ranchero
