funny funny funny u-haul
a while ago i made reservation to u-haul for a 16x12 trailer to move furniture from california to utah. well i bought new furniture so i don't need the trailer anymore. well they let me make reservation for my explorer sport trac.
but when i go to a local store and try to make reservation for a tow dolly, and say i have a ford sport trac, they won't do it. i did that when i went to buy some wardrobe boxes. and i called today to cancel my reservation for a 16x12 trailer and asked them if they would make me reservations for a dolly for a ford sport trac and they will make the reservations for me.
however, if i go to a local store, they wont. everytime i go to a local store they know exactly its a EXPLORER SPORT TRAC. and when i call on the 800 number, they don't. is there a catch here?
if i made reservations and got it from 800 number and went to a local store to pick it up. will they not give it to me if they see the explorer emblem on my tail gate? or will they just not even bother to look and just let me load it?

I had that problem with uhaul too! The problem is that they think the vehicle that your towing is too heavy for the car or truck that your useing to tow it with. Go online and find the vehicle that they will let you tow and tell them that vehicle. For me I couldn't tow a 64 galaxie but I could tow a 65 galaxie. so I told them i was towing a 65 and went and picked up the 64! Problem solved!!!!

if they take my reservations over the phone, are they really going to check what i got when i pick it up?

No they won't know what your towing. But they must of been sued for letting some one with a falcon tow a school bus 80 mph and then couldn't stop!

So right...the cost of stupidity is usually paid by other people.
Example: some Dumb a&& runs a Red light, other drivers stomp on the brakes to avoid hitting him; they get rear-ended, the scofflaw skips merrily down the road to cause the same kind of collisions at the next intersection. He is "accident-free", but your rates go up.
Another Dumb a&&, buys an SUV to use as an "Urban Assault" vehicle; intimidates the heac out ot all the "little people", soon he is flying down the freeway at 90 mph, switching lanes like he is in a Supra. Resulting in a roll over, but not his fault...it just that SUV's are prone to roll-over. Hint, drive slower or get a car you can handle!
Mantra for American Drivers..."It's not my fault". "They" should protect me from being stupid. You could, should have seen this coming from the first helment, seat-belt or air-bag laws. There was a time ...when you did something stupid, you learned and didn't do that any more.
Even a "wavier", duly signed by the "Dumb A&&", doesn't count in court, which explains why most companies take such a hard line with anything outside an arbitrary safety envelope.
You just "Gott'a Love it".

I understand that U-Haul has a thing against the Ford Explorer and it's cousins. They are afraid to let you tow something with one because of their tendency to flip when driven sideways down the bar ditch by clueless owners. From what I've been told, it has little or nothing to do with weight. However - their car trailers weigh well over 2200 lbs, so that doesn't help. Put 5000+ lbs on the back of one of the older 4.0 Explorers and it's a job.
I could go pick up a dolly or trailer no problem with the little Bronco II we had at one time, but after we traded it in and I tried with the Exploder - no way. I had to borrow a truck to go pick up whatever.

U-Haul is the worst,I made a res. for a trailer in conn.I live in delaware. drove through a terrible rain all the way to conn.I get to the place and he informs me that he has no record of my res. I show him the # he says forget it and writes me up a new one, then calls it in to nat.headq.They say I can't tow the car with this vech.I had already done this with them before I left for conn. They finally let me do it, the owner says he hopes I can hook up myself as he doesn't know how(they all are supposed to be able to do this and check it before you leave)I've done this before so,i got it hooked up.I bought a special plug so I could use there lights, the trailer had no wiring it was all ripped off. Here I am in conn in the pouring rain with no trailer lights,I put the car on and got in the right lane and drove home.I will never rent a trailer from u_haul as Long as i live.there equipment was junk.

from what i hear in explorer forum, the reg explorer and sport tracs are completely different. there is almost 700lbs difference in the two and the sport trac makes max torque alot sooner than the reg explorer so i guess that'll be better for towing. and alot of explorers come with only 3.55 gears when the sport trac comes with at least 3.73.
so, do you think i showed up to a sport trac and already have reservation, think they'll give it to me?
