1966 coupe I wreaked numbers matching what!!&*%!!

What would you guys do??? I just wreaked my beautiful '66 coupe. I am so sad that I cant even curse at myself yet. I found that after 11 years as AAA member, they dropped my insurance without notice, having missed a payment. Im pretty destroyed. So is the car:

1966 coupe, bench seat, Ford air, Ford 8-track, 289, c4 8" rear all orignal. My good friend bought it new in Michagen and drove it to SoCal in the early 70's and added a larger radiator, bought from ford, at the time. Thats it. He kept it in his garage untill 8 years ago, then he had it painted and fixed up. He gave it to me last year.

What would you do with this car if you were me? The front end is pretty much flattened. the core support is wasted. It got hit at 40-45 mph all on the nose. My friend, in an effort to cheer me up said: "why dont you cut the entire front end off since its messed, and replace it with an entire tube front, since you had those lame power drum brakes you wanted to upgrade to disc, so go tubular"

I have very little money and will probably have to declare bankrupcuy anyways now, so I don't know what to do.

first, you are ok that's the main thing.
What value do you think the car was before the accident?
Is it worth it to repair it? or to get another one?
How much money and time do you need to get that "tubular" front to be placed?

Sorry for the accident. It seem's like you might be over reacting a bit. What do you mean by numbers matching? It's a c-code 66 coupe right? There isn't much of anything on that car that is really numbers matching.

In reality you are talking about a $6000 car if it is in very good shape. These cars aren't rare. I would consider your friends suggestion and make it into something fast and fun

I suppose the car was worth $7-10k, not sure. No idea how much the 'tubular conversion' would be. I can do much with cars, but I dont know how to weld while needing to keep things aligned. Dont know. Dont know. I am unsure.. I dont have a car to drive now, but soon will have a Fox mustang to daily drive (insurance?!) I would like a car to take to the track one day. I had a fun race car with a friend, but he broke the deal after I had invested thousands of dollars into the car, he said f-you buddy. It would be nice to have a pre-74 car to take to the drag strip for fun on test & tune nights. However, this would probably take 10 years to $make$ happen with this car? uuuuuuuuuuug

I don't know what numbers matching means. ..thought that numbers matching meant that all the orignal equipt was still installed? I guess that only special equipt deserves to be called numbers matching? I don't really know. I don't know if its over-reacting to feel totally srcewed up when I have wreaked a car I have know for 18 years, been promised for 10, owned for 1, and then totaled. If that wasn't bad enough, I found that my AAA insurance ceased to exist a week before, but wasn't notified, even though I got notification for my membership renewal, went to the office, paid that, and still wasnt informed of a problem with my insurance. I will probably be sued, and having a small income, will be forced to declare bankrupcy. I suppose that some reaction by my part - feeling screwed up - is def. expected here. YUK!

(yeah you're probably right about the $$ I overestimated maybe, because its personal to me, my friend special ordered it in 1966! The dealership didnt have what he wanted at the time. )

Put the car in a corner somewhere and forget about it for awhile.Collect parts while you wait and when the time is right fix it.
