Forgot how \"fun\" this hobby was(n\'t)

i know exactly what you mean eric when you say that. my mustang is down right now and puts holes in my fiances. but it helps to forget about driving her sometimes when i got a nice brand new mid size pick up with 22 inch wheels and a nice eddie bauer bronco 4x4 to forget about it.

the mustang always reminds me how fun this hobby is. althought i took almost a year break from it or more and i'm in the game again. i guess its a off and on thing i guess.

You're lucky Ollie, my other car is a '96 Explorer with 130,000 miles . . .

Anyway, it's all good again because I think I found the majority of my problems. The week before I sent my car to the painter a year ago I had the rear end apart for a rebuild and new gearset, the front end apart for a complete rebuild, and a lot of the engine apart with things at powdercoat. Getting the car painted was kind of a spur of the moment opportunity that came up, so I had to rush to get the thing back together, after work, after the kids went to bed, and usually after a beer or two . . .

Anyway, all of that is my poor excuse for having put three bolts in the intake that were 1/4" too long. I only drove it for a couple of little rips around the neighborhood before I sent it off (and did notice then that it seemed flat), but I think it's just been downhill with every mile since. I pulled the intake tonight and it looks like it was freely sucking oil into the entire left bank of cylinders and two on the right - looked like someone had used a roller to paint the backs of the gaskets with 30w.

So that explains the lack of power, the burning oil, and that damn whistling sound - now I just need to find the wire to the temp gauge!

69, I have to put up with that all the time... Most of our customers are people who tried doing it at home and then bring me the boxes full of pieces and parts and ooooooooooh headaches.... They can never believe it when I tell them that half of their chrome is crap or they're missing this and that... fastener or screw...

I think to myself AAARRRRGGGHHGGSOHPGH:GN:OW*Y$FP

It's a pain in the ass, but when I finish!!!

It Feels GREAT!
