Summit Show N Shine

Many of you may know that I moved to Sparks/Reno from the Bay Area last year. Summit's West Coast distribution center and store is about 2 miles from my house. Pretty Cool. This is my first summer here and I noticed they have Show N' Shines all through the summer.

Working on a project for next months FM issue all week long, the car I wanted to take (Project Torino, see project cars) was down. I scrambled late Friday night to get the thing together so I could cruise it down there.

Drove into the parking lot around 1:00 on Saturday. Guess what? I got waived into "General Parking" by two of the attendants who were choosing what cars did and did not belong in the "Show N Shine".

What's your conclusion?

I'd venture to guess that they had no taste.

I'd also bet that if you drove in with a ragged out 75 Nova 4 door with chery bombs they would have let you in.

As has been said before, There is no accounting for taste.

Being on the heels of "Hot August Nights" I'd guess that the year was the problem. Hot August Nights only allows participation of 1972 and earlier American cars and trucks and European sports cars. Unfortunately the only cars that get any attention in this town are cars that go along with the whole Hot August Nights thing.

That would be my best guess...

When I go to show and shines, I could care less were they park the cars, I walk around and look at them all, even in the general parking lots... lol but that just me.

Anybody else do that too?

Sound like they do the same thing in their packaging/shipping department.

Lets fold these head gaskets in half.
This is on international backorder for 2 yrs but lets put it on sale this month and not tell anybody
lets mail this one to the wrong address.
lets put the wrong size in this one.

I dont buy from them unless I'm forced to.
