Period license plates

I wanted to put this on the forum so not only can everyone benefit from it, but also so it gets put in here to go to archives just in case I or anyone else needs it in the future. This man has a huge collection of period correct lic plates from every state. I bought my 1965 Indiana plate from him at a swap meet

Awesome! There is a fella here at teh local swaps who sells Registerable California plates that go back as far as the 1930's.

He has every california plate style but the blue plates, he said something about state laws not let up on them yet... I'll get his info next time I see him and post it here too!

Kewl, Ken. I'll save his name and address. I have an Ohio YOM tag on my '64 but who knows what I'll buy next...

That address is of a huge flee market in New Port Richie. I have friends who live adjacent to it. In the winter months that is. I'll have them check it out if I don't make it down this winter.
Note the street address: that's an RV park.

I've tried (twice) to get my original black and yellow plates on my '66 here in California. I was told to re-register the original plates you needed an original copy of the registration or title that indicated the original plate number and my vin number. Local DMV offices will not handle this, and both times it was sent to the main office in Sacramento. It was denied both times.

I don't understand why this is a problem, and if you know of a legal way to do it let me know.
