Question regarding Australian Clevelands...

Hopefully some of folks here from downunder can answer this for me (or maybe even someone here in the States can answer it as well)....
I've been checking out the cars from Australia, and I see that the Cleveland in Australia came in two displacements...a 351 and a 302.
So now I am curious, aside from displacement, what is the differences between the two? Are the blocks the same and it's just different strokes, or is it like the 302 Windsor and 351 Windsor here in the States, similar engines but different deck heights?
Another question I have is this, since the Cleveland lasted a lot longer in Australia, how good is the aftermarket there for parts...such as intakes? Did any manufacturers there make any trick pieces like dual quads, tri-power , or fuel injection intakes...or did it pretty much just stay along the lines of single carbs?

Same "Cleveland" block and heads for both 351 and 302 in Aussieville....so yeah, they actually had a 'real' 302 cleveland. It featured a 3.00" inch stroke instead of the 3.5".
They were pretty much 2bbl and 4bbl oriented down there.

The 351 Cleveland is the #1 dominant race engine down under from what I understand. It is far more advanced than the Chevy's because of all the R&D they've done on it.
At one point, there was a guy who posted the #1 quickest and fastest small block doorslammer down there, and it was a Ford Cleveland powered car. I recall it was in the 7's on motor only....no nitrous, turbos or blowers.

Maybe they can ship a few cores our way.

Yeah, you're right, same blocks, just different stroke.
Much development work has been done to Clevelands over the years, as it ran from 1970 to 1984 or so.
Quite a few aftermarket items available, but no dual quad/tri power stuff. We do have the best alloy heads in the world, the CHI ones, and their intakes to match. Not much when it comes to EFI, but there are people who fabricate their own setups with success.
Yes, we do have some fast Clevelands. The fastest naturally aspirated sedan in the world, and also the worlds fastest blown Cleveland in a Falcon which has done 6.5s. It's almost a Doorslammer without the Keith Black!

Thanks for the info guys, pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. And yes, it would be nice to find a company that would import some of those Clevelands here, and keep it easy on the ol' wallet! Who knows...maybe one day! [img]/forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

im in new zealand, we import all the aussie falcons etc,clevelands are readily avaliable here like the windsors are in the states,for this reason ive got three 351w engines in my garage,the 351w is nowhere near as common as the cleveland,but ive got afew 302 clevelands put away too.got a good mate thats just built a longrod 351c,using 302c rods

When I was at JBA in the late 80's/early 90's we used to
bring in the australian 351C 2bbl heads by the pallet-load.
We sold them and B-A manifolds for doing Clevors. Shipped
maybe 2-5 pairs of heads a week, all year long.

Here's an 18 month old article on the blown Falcon.
It has since done a 6.5 ET.
