ok so you are telling me that after i block sand a new paint job with clear on it that i shouldnt buff it ? I have never been witness to so much bs in one discussion in my life. CLEAR COAT DOES deteriorate, fade, and yellow. Whoever told you this is obviously a moron. I am PPG and DuPont certified

Same here, I'be never seen such a collection of flat out BS, misinformation & plain ignorance in one thread on ANY msg board. I didn't think it was possible.
I thought the "chrome is clear, just like clear coat" was a classic. Having worked in a plating shop I can assure you, there's no such thing as transparent metal, unless you are talking about the transparent aluminum in one of the Star Trek movies?? LMFAO!!

Lots about soap and wax! To polish chrome I use a product called never-dull pads. It is cotton wadding with a nonabrasive polish imbedded in it. It does a great job and is relatively cheap. It comes in a silver metal can. Try it sometime!

Turtle wax is not that bad. I have very little recent experience with it, must be at least 10 years since I used it, I'm sure they have improved their formula by now. I stopped using it because it was difficult to remove. More than once, I would wax the car, then buff all the wax off each section, with a soft towel, on each section as it dried.
Once finished I would go over everything again, just in case I missed something. Still, it never failed that about 3 days to a week later, some areas would show up with left over wax that didn't buff off the 1st or the 2nd time around. Maybe I was a victim of a whole bunch of practical jokes?
I guess when the picked the turtle as mascot, they knew what they were doing.

You reminded me of all the people when I was living in GA that were driving around with wax on their cars all day. How did they get that stuff off there after it baked in the sun all day?!! Shoot sometimes just doing just the hood and going back to wipe off it was difficult and they are leaving it on all day? Seems nuts to me!
Haven't seen that done in a while so maybe it was some kind of trend or 'fashion' statment or something.

You are teasing me right. I would buff it all off...just some of would somehow blend in with the paint. All my cars are Dark (Dark Green or Black), but when the left-over cures - the un-buffed wax really stands out.

I can't be the only one that happens to, 'cause, just like you mentioned I see them all summer too.
