Mothers\', McGuires Products = Junk
I've had it. I have used enough of the "top end" car care products to be terribly disappointed.
I'v spent good money both Mothers' chrome polish and McGuire's "car shampoo" and am very disappointed by both, especially McGuire's. I mean ZERO suds in their car wash, which equals ZERO lubrication to help lift dirt off. I suppose it's great if your car is reall not very dirty to begin with, but what utter junk! I might as well just try to wash it with straight water. I found absolutely no value to the product whatsoever.
And Mothers' chrome polish isn't much better. Why not just hand rub the chrome with some WD40 and call it a day? Again, almost ZERO value to their products.
Okay, I'm glad I got that off my chest. I may just go back to bad ol' Turtle Wax.

I've always washed my car with dawn dish soap. The husband buys different car wash stuff and now and then I might use it but still go back to the dawn. I even used it on oil spots on my clothes and it will get them out most of the time not to mention how well it gets the tranny fluid out of your hair! Dawn - not just for dishes.

From a painters point of view .....NEVER USE DISH SOAP !!!!!! It removes your wax and or paint sealant leaving the paint more prone to oxidization.
As for a great paint sealant always always always use Race Glaze. Now I know what yer thinkin and no I am not a Race Glaze dealer. Im just gettin yah to keep from having paint issues in 4 years. Race Glaze not only seals your paint and keeps it silky smooth, but if put on by hand with some elbow grease it removes tar, oxidization, and if you use it on a boat, about a 2 mph increase on the top end . Yes its true , this is why they use it on top fuel funnys as well and is how it got developed.

Agreed, dish soap strips wax and sealant. It is recommended by Zaino to do just that.---Zaino rules. John--Las Vegas.

You guy's are missing something here...
ALL soapy substances used to wash cars will remove the wax from the previous application...
It's what soap does! Cleans...
I use Dawn and it has WONDERFUL suds, and when I WAX my car afterwards.... I no longer have to worry about NOT having any protectant on my already clear coated car
"Clear Coat".... A protectant to protect the paint... A protective layer or paint like substance used to protect the paint from the elements such as sun bleaching, dirt, bug guts Etc... Advertised in paint and body shops in the 60's & 70's to replace waxing your car every week because there is a clear coat protecting it...
I wax my car after washing it.... Don't you? So it shouldn't matter what you use to clean it if you wax it afterward... By the way... Wax is NOT a very good UV protection device and your paint will fade with or without it...
I use DX330 (grease and wax remover) to remove any wax on car's (after washing them) where I didn't know the manufacturer... I use Pure Carnuba wax and really like the results.

Mothers aluminum Mag polish IS a good product. Heck, It even works wonders on stainless!
My Dad has had good results with Maguires products. He gets out his orbital buffer and usually does 3 to 4 part proccess that makes the factory Ford paint job on his 02 HD F150 look great! He has a good nack for doing it too. I even did a 2 part proccess on my 04 Marauder and could'nt believe how deep it made the paint, It almost was another color!
We never used their car wash though, So I will use your words as wisdom.
Food for thought, I never used Mothers Chrome polish. But I have used Turtle Waxs' chrome polish and it works pretty darn good! But keep in mind that if your chrome plating is worn badly, It will NOT bring it back. Chrome is clear, JUst like clearcoat.
