Update on my fleet of cars.

So we figured out the bad running carb was due to a bad booster messing with the engine no biggie disconnect and plug the line but it would seem about a mile down the road my sisters car jumped timing so we gotta do that this weekend not much fun but what can you do right?

On my 67 galaxie I goto shut the car off and it keeps running all my lights and gauges die like the car is off but it keeps running is this an ignition problem not 100% sure so I thought I would ask you anyways thanks for your help

BTW FE is the man he called it as being a tooth or 2 off on the distributor so he is a god what can i say but at least i have done timing changes before later dudes.

If you worked with the timming from the other day., You might not have gotten the dizzy bold tight enought and the dizzy well turn under the tq of the motor. might recheck the timming..

You mean the dizzy is in the same spot or is it still on the mark where you set it.. It only takes a little turn of the dizzy to thro the timming off depending on how close it was set to maximum timming. Just an 1/8th of a inch can thro the timming off by 4 to 8 degs. each plug wire is 45degs of timming apart.
Run on or diseling can also be caused by a rich running carb, or idle running to fast, or choke stuck.

His dizzy hasn't moved. I made sure he tightened it down when her checked the timing..
There is a high probablilty he's jumped time. Plus, the dist needed to be re-stabbed anyhow because the last guy to touch it made it so that the timing is right at 30* with the dist up against the manifold and it won't come down any farther... then there's the jumped time thing...

This was a $400 dollar car bought recently... There is a lot of unknown about it.

I heard it crank over last night and it didn't sound good... Either a broken cam or jumped time or all the valves have become unadjusted in a one mile drive....

Monstermach might wanna stop by Tom's place and see what's what when he takes the timing cover off.... (Sure it's a few miles but he's in need )

i am cool on doing it i had a 351c do the same thing a few years back but i only heard of STOCK timing sets doing this because they are alum gears coated in plastic but we will see I guess if the cam is broken it would not even run at all right?

Update on my fleet of cars.

that's right...

Of course it could be other things too but you really wanna look at teh gears anyway, since you have no clue what condition they're in.
