Need help on garage door- needs to clear lift!

Brand? No clue. I can go look for a data plate. As far as "My door guy" goes- house did not come with one.

Need help on garage door- needs to clear lift!

On my previous residence I installed a new garage door and specified a high lift option kit which extended the length of the vertical side tracks to get the door to 4 inches off the ceiling. Also requires a larger torsion spring and lift cables.

Only downfall to a high lift door is they are not automatic garage door friendly and you must purchase a commercial grade door opener that drives the torsion tube.

High lift was only about $150 over the standard 16' X 8' door.

Thanks for the pics. I did get a quote for a "High Lift" door that sounds like what you installed. Price was not so bad. I may go that way but I would prefer no door overhead at all. Maybe I can buy a bunch of shower curtains and glue them together.

Whats wrong with the Barn door Idea? Swing em out, split in the middle. Would solve the problem, be easy enough to do, and could easily be made to match the house, maybe even better than your standard roll up door.

I like the idea- but I do have to sell it to my wife. Do some nice windows, stain them, would be cool. The only physical drawback is that the front door is next to the garage and a vehicle is usually parked right in front of the garage. Maybe an offset split and the far side be a bi-fold and a short door by the front door. Too bad I have no carpentry skills.

I went to 11' on our new garage too- but the front door tracks are hanging at about 9' (three 8 foot doors). thinking about eventually getting the 'vertical lift' or 'hi-clearance' tracks as theyre going to look funny once the ceiling gets done...sucks as I shoulda thought about it when we had it built, wouldnt have cost much then, now the tracks/springs/cables all need reworked...
if you want an out of the way door opener, search Wayne-Dalton 'I-Drive' openers- pretty slick, I saw a guy that has one...goes right over the torsion spring axle, everythings split so you dont need to mess with the door to install, etc...they have a install video on their website. Ive pretty much decided that these are the ones I'll be looking at if I ever buy or replace another opener- out of the way, nothing over the car to drop grease, etc...but mostly because it looks so clean

Why? I tried to find the mfr, but so far if there is a label or name on it somewhere it is well hidden.
