Ever heard of Hawaii Five-O? An old TV cop show from the early seventies.

I think 'pig' came from the retarded hippies of the sixties, first time I heard it. Fuzz, maybe from the James Dean or Brando days, before my time.

Now that you say that it rings a bell, but i am only 18, my mustang is from the 70s but not me, makes sense.

Now that you say that, i think "Pig" does come from the hippie days.

Re: RUN!!!!Here comes the "five-oh"

Southern63gal is right, "5-oh" is from Hawaii Five-O.

Don't know about "pigs" though.

"Cop" comes from "copper," which refers to the copper buttons that policemen in England wore at one time.

Re: RUN!!!!Here comes the "five-oh"

Let's start with cop. Cop the noun is almost certainly a shortening of copper, which in turn derives from cop the verb. The London police were called bobbies, after Sir Robert Peel who advocated the creation of the Metropolitan Police Force in 1828. Copper as slang for policeman is first found in print in 1846, according to the Oxford English Dictionary. The most likely explanation is that it comes from the verb "to cop" meaning to seize, capture, or snatch, dating from just over a century earlier (1704).

Also an early American term "Constable on Patrol", is another possible precursor to Cop....

Check it out.. I'm wrong on this account...

Cops are only PIGS until you have one save your life...

Pretty Simple.

After that, there are some Bastards then some sunofabitches... But mostly they're just cops... After that...
