Australian engines

The post a while back showing pictures of different Fords and engines got me to thinking so I went to the Australian Ford site to see what is offered. What I wanted to find out was more information about the Boss 260. Now since I have 260 fender emblems in the parts bin for my '63 Fairlane, I am figuring this engine would be a natural fit.

The Boss 260 is not a 260 cubic inch motor but rather a 260 kw motor. Seems they rate motors by power not ci. So their Boss 260 is actually 326 ci motor that develops 349 HP and it has four overhead cams. Still would be nice to get a hold of one. Also looked at the Falcon Ute with this motor but if they imported it, the cost would be a shade over $35,000.00!

I e-mailed them about the motor and they replied that they do not sell it as a seperate part but only as a replacement for an existing motor. OH well!

Later!
Mr. Ed

Re: Australian engines

Australia had all kinds of cool engines. Hemi 6 cylinders, 3 rotor Wankles, the 302 cleve, the crossflow inline 6. I wanna get my hands on one of those 3 rotor wankels and put it in a lil mazda pickup or something.....

Re: Australian engines

these engines do come up at times,i was offered a 5.4 - 260kw engine out of a smashed 2006 xr8 with 32000km on it a couple of months back for NZ$4000.
if you were into scoring one it shouldnt be too hard to find a good example, might even be able to pickup the 290kw version.

Re: Australian engines

If you thought the Ford Aust website was OK, then check out the FPV site. They are Fords Performance division here.
