Wow, someone on the forum that's older than me, good job deadhorse.
I was 14 going on 15, Just a tad young to be really involved but still old enough to know that it was a great era in time. Innocent pranks and the cops didn't seem to have a chip on there shoulder, fights were settled with fists instead of 9mms. Then the mid to late 60's when muscle cars were a dime a dozen. A little while ago I told each of my sons (now 19 and 26) "I wish I could take you in time for just one day to see how great it used to be".

I was 10yrs in 62 living in Napa, California
cops were nicer then they are now...
We just had some cops graduate 12-14-07. and there's a big stink over there moto... that the public didn't hear about untill just recently......

"DON'T LIVE WITH P.T.S.D. GO OUT AND CAUSE IT"
This was in bold letters on the program for there graduation...
so far this year its been kill first ask question later...

I wasn't born for another 9 years. American Graffitti was based on 1962 Modesto California, that's my best recallection of the era.

I guess the direct answer is I was five years old and lived at home with my parents in a very small town in Utah in 62.

However, In 1973, when that movie came out ...

I lived in the same house in the same town and had just got my drivers license and had a job which kept my car full of gas and made me some date money for the weekend.
