Anything thats not a Mustang, Camaro, Chevelle, or Nova is considered "obscure" by the general public.

PS--Take a look at the van in the background of the second pic!!!
That's a Cyclone Super Spoiler II and it was a twin to the Torino King Cobra.....there were not 500 of them built. There is 1 of each owned by a guy in Tenn and those 2 were at Dearborn in 2003...which is where that pic was taken. These were prototypes not production cars. There's lots of history on the cars and you can check it out over on the Torino Cobra site. I remember one of the King Cobras being for sale back in the early 1980's. Amazing cars that would have given MOPAR a real fight if NASCAR had not slapped the aero cars with a 305ci engine limit.

Re: obscure muscle

The Hurst SC/Rambler, which was guaranteed to go 14.5 off the showroom floor. It was followed up by the Rebel Machine, then a flop of a car, the SC360 Hornet. It would have been awesome if it came with a HIPO 360 but the base engine was a two barrel 360. But there was the Hornet Hatchback X that could be had with a beefy 360 until the mid '70s.

Later!

I read your post and that pic is of a Cyclone SUPER Spoiler II and it was the twin of the Torino KING Cobra. There were only a couple of these cars built. Don't beleive me? Talk to the Torino registry. I've seen both cars at Dearborn. Neither car ever raced. The SUPER Spoiler was powered by a Boss 429. Not trying to be a prick but the pic is a SUPER Spoiler and it was taken at Dearborn in 2003, I spent a little more than half a day at that tent in the background.

Here is a link that explains it:

Re: obscure muscle

I agree with Jan on a couple- I still have a 89 mark VII LSC, and right now these are bargain basement hotrod-able cars- I see them in the paper often for around 1k...put a set of real gears in that car and it would rock- and comfortably
When I was a kid mom had a 69 gal with the high comp 429 4 barrel- ended up being my first car at 16, promptly totalled it out horsing around. By far the 'strongest feeling' car Ive ever had, yet she got 17mpg driving it to work when I was a kid...that engine was BOTH a torque monster and a screamer for a bigblock (still got the motor- its 'someday' going in our 69 mustang fb)

I still dream of someday finding another old 69 hardtop 2 dr with the black interior/429 4v...they had one of the coolest dashboards Ive ever seen too- except for the odd lefthanded radio...those cars were tanks, but had no problem stuffin you in the seat
