That sucks, I liked Al, and use to tease him on how much he looked like the Rain Man, from the movie of same name . He will be missed

No, this has been an awful year for older racers...both oval track and drag, from the '60s-'80s dying down my way. We just lost a dirt and asphalt regional legend this week...Jim Bickerstaff, this past week as one of several. One of my closest racing buddies had a massive heart attack last week, had to have several surguries but it looks as if he'll eventually be ok.

I don't know anything about racing really but it is sad to see the old racers pass on.
I was checking out the story on the nhra link on the article you posted and the last pic on that page. Saying there weren't many cars hoffman couldn't manhandle to his will. Wow, that thing looks like it had to be hurded down the track!
