Craftsman problems

Has anyone else had any problems with craftsman air tool male ends and quick disconnects? Mine wore with very little use, the hose popped off my impact wrench, and dented my car.

Re: Craftsman problems

I use the same style of ends and couplers for years and NEVER had one pop off....
Craftsman don't make the couplers... China and Taiwan does...

...Check the ends and couplers to make sure they are matched.

Just because they fit together, doesn't mean they match. Most guys just eye-ball them, inside the blister pack, then march over and pay for them. Its very seldom that anyone actually reads the specs.

I know there are at least 2 types, 'cause I bought the wrong ones once. I had just started using air power tools and wasn't real sure of the differences - just like your complaint, I started "bad-mouthing" Sears, Craftsman and chinese workmanship. A friend of mine asked to look at the ends and couplers. After looking them over he explained my problem...being the skeptic that I am, and a "self-proclamed" advanced amature professional - I told him he was full of it. Later that week, after he left my pride was soothed and I could actually think straight. I went back to Sears... Damn, He was right. Sometimes it pays to read the directions.

Re: Craftsman problems

I agree Beoweolf however I have had the same "type" not connect well. leak, pop off etc..... if grasshopper (Shadow) had only listened to the Bee..... I shall refresh your memory Shadow

http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/gar...ate-sears.html

Do they actually have "crapsman" stamped on them Shadow? if so Satans little shop of rejection is SUPPOSED to stand behind them (but incidental damages AKA the dent in your car...wont be covered)

I decided a while back to just replace all of mine at once and went and bought all new ones at the same place/same brand because I was running into what Beo had mentioned.

Re: Craftsman problems

I got mine at the Big Orange Box (home depot) just dont buy any of the cheap ones that look like cast aluminum. The brass ones hold up pretty nicely get enough for all your tools plus a few extra for the tools that find their way into your tool box later. Pick up an extra female coupler at the same time to save aggrivation later on.

Re: Craftsman problems

I have Craftsman troubles too....

I went to buy a sunofabicchin 1/2" drive Torque wrench and they only had ONE DAMN UNIT, in the whole friggin northern california!

Regular dial up click types were on sale for $69 bucks... ALL of them were gone and I REALLY needed a calibrated one for tomorrow's GOld ROcket 350 assembly...

So I paid $268.42 for a digital torque wrench...

It looks neat and reads FT #, IN #, and Nm. 20 to 200 Ft lbs

I'll tell you how it works after I get back on Monday

Re: Craftsman problems

i use the high flows.Best thing about them is you can plug any male end into a female end once its installed. So theres no need to change every tool you borrow to your style of connector

Re: Craftsman problems

The real thing to consider is this: male ends can wear and so can female connectors, but I think actual liability on craftsman's part comes into play when the failure of either causes the female end to pop off, stay open/flowing high psi, and have the hose be whipping around hitting me in the face and denting my car. Could you agree? That is the kind of stuff that recalls are made of. I will be calling them this next week after I get an estimate and take some photos. At least I dont have to take photos of all my front teeth knocked out.

Re: Craftsman problems

I have always used craftsman toolsand had no trouble with them ,or if I had to return them, but I will never ever buy another power tool of any kind from them again .I had a real bad experince with one of there pressure washers involving customer service and the parts department .Never try to rebuild a pump on craftsman pressure washer ,it is anightmare to get the parts you need ,seems if you need a 15 cent o ring you hav eto buy a $ 40 kit just to get that o ring. the guy told me I would come out better just buying a new pump and he was right.
