car paint question

ok, im going to paint the body of my 51 a metalic pearl blue. should i paint my engine bay a darker blue, or a black, and if i do blue should i do the block blue as well?

just wondering what everyones thoughts on this are.

im just wonderign how others have done. i like it both ways so its hard to decide if i want it black or if i want it colored.

the engine bay will be a flat color so i would probally do a dark blue rattle can if i went that route.

I was debating the same thing when I get around to painting my cougar. I didn't know if I wanted to paint the engine bay body color or a semi-gloss black. I'm just going with a por-15 semigloss black with topcoat since I'm using it for the underside. I figure theres going to be oil and crap along with some heat, why bother doing a nice paint job like on the body.

My personal taste is for a nice semi-gloss engine compartment...it seperates it from the rest of the car, and I feel the semi-gloss (or even flat black) showcases the engine more...kind of like a good frame around a picture.

Of course the main thng to consider is that it is your car, look good and hard, think it over and do what you feel will look best with your plans for the car...also consider if you are going to be popping the hood open to show off the engine...what effect do you want?

I will recommend this though....lose the idea of doing rattle can, I've seen it done before and even for a daily driver that you don't plan on showing, it still looks pretty cruddy...get a proper gun and do it right...even a amatuer job with a gun will look better than a streaky spray bomb paint job, at least in my opinion anyway.

Great thing about cars, 10 people can have the same car, the same idea...and you will still get 10 different interpretations of that same idea.

So how hard do you plan on driving your car that there will be oil and crap flying around under your hood???

Just hassling ya' , I know where you are coming from with the statement. and it makes sense as well as any other ideas for an engine compartment.
